Biography

Ruth was born about 1687. Ruth Van Woerd and Elizabeth baptized their son Jacob on 31 Jan 1714 with witness David Groesbeck and Elizabeth Marselis. (presumably her brother.[1][1]

Ruth Van Woerdt and Elizabeth baptized their daughter Catyrn 6 Mar 1717 with witnesses William Groosebeeck and Gertuy.[2]

Van Schoenderwoert Family Records cite the marriage of Ruth Van Woert to Elizabeth Groesbeck and their children.[3]

The following excerpts from Jonathan Pearson's "Contributions for the genealogies of the first settlers of the ancient county of Albany, from 1630 to 1800 indicate Ruth without a baptism date but listed between siblings born from 1684 to 1692:

"VAN WOEKT, Jacob Teunise, m. first Catryn Claase and secondly, Anna Loockerman, wid. of Adam Winne, Oct. 18, 1691. He was buried July 18, 1730. Ch : bp. ; Nicolaas, June 3, 1684 ; Ruth ; Pieter, Oct. 23, 1692; Sara, Dec. 31, 1693; Jeremias, June 16, 1695 ; Jeremie, May 17, 1696 ; Sara, Aug. 1, 1697 : Jacob, Oct. 30, 1698 ; Margriet, July 21, 1700 ; Heyltje Nov. 2, 1701 ; Catharina, Dec. 24, 1704.
VAN WOERT, Ruth [son of Jacob] , m . first, Elizabeth and secondly, M. Eckbertsen, who was buried July 9, 1755 . Ch : bp . ; Jacob, Jan . 31,1714 ; Catryn, March 6, 1717 ; Christina, Sept. 27, 1719 ; Teunis, Feb. 3, 1725; Elizabeth, Dec. 28, 1727, buried Sept. 21, 1746 ; Sander." [4]

Alternatively, he may have been the son of Jacob Teunisz van Woert and his first wife.
